Turning Passion into Photography
Since his early childhood, Pankaj Saharia has loved nature. He always enjoyed camping and hiking with his family during the summer. Whether they were exploring the woods of nearby forests or dipping their toes in fresh lake water, he felt the most at home while outdoors in nature. His mother would often snap shots of Pankaj while he adventured during their trips. One year, he asked his mother if he could borrow the family camera to take photos during their camping trip. To his surprise, she said yes. He immediately began taking photos of everything from the bushy green trees to the small critters scurrying about. It was through this experience that he fell in love with nature photography, a hobby he has maintained throughout his life.
Pankaj Saharia’s parents were amazed by the photos he captured with the family camera. Hoping to foster his creativity and inspire him further, his parents purchased a subscription to National Geographic, a magazine famous for its portrayal of nature, history, geography and culture. Pankaj Saharia fell in love with the publication almost immediately. He found himself both inspired and mesmerized by the vivid photos showcasing plant life and animals in their natural habitats. To this day, he is an avid reader and subscriber of National Geographic. He cites the photographers published in the magazine as his idols and heroes.
Over the years, the amateur nature photographer has embarked on various adventures in the hopes of capturing gorgeous photos of animals in their natural habitats. He has traveled across the globe in order to visit animals and showcase their beauty with his camera. But, throughout his travels, Pankaj Saharia has been exposed to some of the dark and depressing secrets of the world’s environment. Due to deforestation, pollution and other unfortunate man-made disasters, animals and plant life are suffering tremendously. Pankaj Saharia uses his artwork to expose these problems and has worked with several environmental organizations to help combat these unfortunate tragedies.
